This item is a converter solution for SATA (Serial ATA) storage devices (Hard Disks or internal optical drives). It has a standard 22-pin SATA port as an interface to a SATA drive. It accepts Parallel ATA (IDE) commands through 40-pin IDE connector from PC mother board, decodes PATA commands and converts to SATA commands. Responses from SATA drive are deciphered, processed and converted to a PATA protocol and sent to PC. This PATA to SATA adapter allows you to replace / install SATA drive to older computers which are without SATA ports.
